Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Chapel Singers have held their rehearsals and performances entirely virtually or in-person in very small ensembles. This YouTube Channel is a catalogue of the choir’s virtual recordings which were produced during academic year 2020-21. It is not possible to perform live music over video platforms such as Zoom, so these recordings were created entirely asynchronously and subsequently edited to create the appearance of a synchronous performance.
Among others, the recordings include works by the composers Thomas Tallis, Benjamin Britten, and Robert Edward Smith (Trinity College Chapel composer-in-residence). In the absence of the annual Festival of Lessons and Carols, the group produced three recordings of Christmas carols with professional audio engineering by Kyle Knickerbocker. Video editing (and the remainder of the audio editing) was produced by Christopher Houlihan. Students recorded their audio/video parts individually while listening to and watching the conductor in a “master” recording.
