Carole Delaitre – Language & Culture Studies

Last fall, I taught a class titled “France and frenchness in pop culture”, which asks students to explore a variety of topics (the #metoo movement, the climate crisis, debates around racism, secularism, and color blindness in France, etc.) in a wide array of popular medias (documentary, comic books, music, tv shows, podcast, cyberculture, and advertisement) to reflect on France’s ideals and their shortcomings. For their final project, students had to choose on of the topics that we explored and a media and create their own pop culture artifact. My project has a digital fellow has been to gather their final projects in a digital exhibit, that will showcase their work and that they can use when looking for internship or interviewing for a job.
