Aisha Carothers – Class of 2025
Carrie Saxon Perry was the first African-American woman to be elected mayor of Hartford. Despite her many accomplishments and the advocacy work she did, her death in 2018 went unreported and her legacy remained unrecognized. With our project, our goal is to collect as much information about Mayor Perry as possible and form an archive that holds our findings. We also have been working on a History Pin collection so the community of Hartford and get involved and submit any memories, pictures, and testimonies they have of Carrie Saxon Perry.
