This digital project was for the Liberal Arts Action Lab (Fall ’18), in collaboration with the Connecticut Food System Alliance. What the goal of our digital project was to spark a conversation among people about food policies. We hoped that in sharing stories and showing where and how the food policies were at play, people would want to share their own experience with food (not only consuming but also producing such as gardening). We linked the CT Food System Alliance forum on the website for people to share their experiences. Since we were trying to be the initial catalyst for conversation, I think the digital project is finished. However, in the grander scheme of things, I think there’s a lot more work left to be done in trying to spread awareness of what food policies are and how they’re affecting us on a daily level. The next big milestones following a greater awareness of food policies is then rallying people to talk to our local and state representatives in how to improve the current food policies. I’m not entirely sure what I would do differently if I could do it over again. Perhaps trying getting more food stories.
